What’s checked

Five hard record checks and three more for the vehicle’s historical context, plus the free lookup results. Each check explains what a clear result means, and what to do if something is flagged.

• Outstanding finance
  Whether a finance agreement is still recorded against the vehicle, so you can ask for it to be settled before you pay.
• Stolen vehicle
  Whether there is a live police report against the registration or the vehicle’s unique identification number.
• Insurance write-off
  Whether an insurer has ever declared the vehicle a total loss, and in which category, so you know what happened and can ask for evidence of the repair.
• Salvage auction record
  Whether the vehicle has been listed at a salvage auction, where damaged vehicles are usually sold.
• Third party risk marker
  Whether an outside organisation has registered an interest in the vehicle, for a reason outside the other checks.
• Keeper history
  How many keepers the vehicle has had, and when it last changed hands.
• Plate history
  Whether the vehicle has carried a different registration before.
• Colour history
  Whether the recorded colour has ever changed.

How it works

1. Enter the registration and the email address the report should go to.
2. Pay £15.99 securely by card. Your card is authorised, and only charged once your report data comes back.
3. Your report is usually ready in moments. It opens on screen and is emailed to you as a PDF, with a receipt.

Where the data comes from

The vehicle-history data is supplied by Experian, and Motoble presents it as provided. Experian backs it with its own Data Guarantee, shown on every report with the indemnity amount and term that applies, separate from anything Motoble offers.

You’re paying for the check itself, not for a particular outcome. A clean result is real information: it means you now know, rather than hope. That is exactly what the check exists to give you, whichever way it comes out.
